Tastes Like Tech: An Introduction

I have created this blog to explore an area which has become a
big part of my life:

TeChNoLOgY

Over the past 8 years I have become increasingly familiar with a broad range of items that could fall under the 'tech' umbrella, this started when I was busy running a recording studio.

Through this my experience with complex equipment grew, I read extensively on the subjects of acoustics, mic placement, mixing and mastering. Learning the intimate details of equipment, creating custom wiring runs hundreds of meters in length.
As a result I know a hyper-cardiod dynamic mic from a small diaphragm omni-directional condenser mic and how to explain the benefits and weaknesses of each for any given situation.

As YouTube blossomed I began to dabble in video recording first with a mini DV camera, progressing to various HD cameras. A foray into reviewing is included here -

YouTube in part lead to a resurgence in photographic interests I harboured years before, and through various links and friends re-fired the brief flirtation a teenage me had with Lomography.

Over the years since joining youtube my ambition to create high quality videos has constantly forced me to learn more about editing, codecs, transcoding, shot composition, colour grading, and not least presenting in a coherent fashion!
Both my main YouTube Channels are now partnered, the 'extras' channel will host reviews for this blog.

Through all of this I have amassed an array of tech and hopefully some knowledge...

The purpose of this blog will be to share my thoughts on various items that come my way, with a leaning towards audio, photography/videography and possibly guitar/music tech in general.

There are countless technology bloggers, so I hope to distinguish my work with the experience I have in the areas laid out above and some rigorous testing : )
